Liza Fishbone

Liza Fishbone

Liza Fishbone is an Austin, TX-based artist who creates fantasy landscapes blending nature, mythical storytelling, and whimsical characters. She is the founder of Sneaky Planet Studios where she creates murals, immersive installations, and fine art. Her influences include nature, fairy tales, old architecture, Japanese yokai, surrealism, and wobbly foods.

Growing up in St. Louis, MO, surrounded by painters, musicians, and storytellers, Fishbone learned the importance of public art and introduced her to a world of thinking big. From a young age, she learned to paint by climbing the scaffolding alongside her parents as they created murals (On The Wall Productions, est. 1974.) She went on to study Fashion Design at Syracuse University and it was there that she began cultivating a multidisciplinary practice. In 2015, she teamed up with her father, Robert Fishbone to restore decades-old murals and make new ones. Their site-specific murals have been featured in St. Louis Magazine’s “St. Louis works of art everyone in the city must experience.” Besides making murals, she works in event production and fabrication, designing and making decor and scenic treatments for music festivals and events, immersive experiences, and brand activations.

Liza is currently developing “creatures of comfort,” empathic characters designed to promote mental well-being that is shown in murals, sculptures, and fine art.
